TPACK and Engagement
Part of the process for reaching all students for me has been incorporating the TPACK framework we learned in Dr. Spiers ECI 546 New Literacies and Media. The TPACK framework provides an approach to support deep conceptualized learning through three areas that include technological knowledge, content knowledge, and pedagogical knowledge and when all three are combined a dynamic learning and teaching experience is offered. The framework provides way to use technology in the classroom. Finding way's to have meaningful engagement for all level's of learning styles has improved my teaching practice in the classroom. It has also provided me with another strategy for reaching students who are Dual Language Learners. Below is a video of a project based inquiry that was completed with preschool dual language learners for the 2017-2018 school year.
Curricular Connections for the project include: CCSS.ELA.Literacy.RL.1.2 and CCSS.K.TT.1 additional for preschool it includes the Teaching Strategies Gold Objectives 9a - Listens to and understands increasingly complex language, 18b - Comprehending and Responding to books and other texts, 28 - uses tools and other technology to perform tasks.

Using Technology to Improve Retell
Through my work in ECI 523 Teacher as a researcher, I have been able to learn how action research can help drive my instruction and improve on the strategies I'm using to support the TPACK framework in my classroom. Hendricks (2017) states that this is a type of research that is completed "with the purpose of improving practice." (p. 7) Knowing and understanding this can lead to improved teaching practices. Engaging in the reflect, act evaluate process allows for classroom to teachers to become more strategic, focused, and informed of their classroom practices. Through collaborative action research I discovered Stop Motion Studios is a valuable for engagement in the retell process of comprehension. Below of are examples of students engaging in the process.
Curricular Connections for this project include: Preschool Teaching Strategies Gold Objective 9a - uses and expanding and expressive vocabulary, 18c - retells stories, and 28 - uses tools and other technology to perform tasks.
