Developmentally Appropriate Tools to Support TPACK Framework and Techonology in Early Childhood
Developmentally Appropriate practices are a set of guidelines provided by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This document outlines principals supported by research about what is best for young learners up to the age of 8. Their position statement on technology is that technology should not harm children, and should be used to influence creativity, encourage play, interactive, and empowering. (NAEYC 2012) Combining this knowledge of professional practice in early childhood with what information through engaging with the text Best Practices in Literacy Instruction. The following are some tools that are working well to support all levels of learners in the classroom.
- Stop Motion Studio - this tool allows students to create a stop motion video with sound, voice, and their own creations.
- Story Creator - this allows for students to create, and draw a story
- Puppet Pals - allows students to create a storyline with different characters and create their own voices for the characters.
